RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Washoe Conty School District has installed a geothermal heating and cooling system at JWood Raw Elementary School thanks to a million-dollar tax credit.

The district says it has received nearly $1.7 million in tax credits from the IRS following the installation of the new system.

They say the new system saved the district more than $30,000 in energy costs during the last year.

The system is comprised of a geothermal wellfield of eight ground loops and more than 70 ground source heat pumps.
