LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — A woman has been sentenced in what appeared to be a “random” shooting of a carpet cleaner last March.

Kayla Alery , 27 at the time of the shooting, was sentenced to 120 months to life in the Nevada Department of Corrections. A court official said she was adjudicated guilty, but mentally ill of second degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon.

March 27 last year, Alery was accused of killing Raul Cardoza, 41, at an apartment complex near Spring Mountain and Fort Apache.
