LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — A woman accused of severely injuring a 13-year-old boy, then leaving the scene of the crash, had her first court appearance Thursday afternoon.
Yarla Valeriano-Perez, 27, was approaching a school bus with its lights on and stop sign arm out when she neglected to stop, police said. Investigators said she hit a student who had just gotten off the bus. The crash happened on Wednesday at Amigo Street and South Abbeyfield Rose Drive near St. Rose Parkway and Maryland Parkways.
Valeriano-Perez originally fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle, according to an arrest report obtained by FOX5. She would later come back to the scene of the crash. That’s when officers arrested her.
