According to the conservative news outlet Human Events, the raid on former White House Security Advisor John Bolton Friday morning was kicked off by a key Trump administration official after having shared U.S. intelligence with the FBI.

Bolton’s house was raided Friday in what the Associated Press reported involved an investigation into mishandling of classified documents, with some analysts suggesting the investigation may have stemmed from information Bolton shared in his 2020 memoir.

Appearing on Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast, Jack Posobiec, senior editor for Human Events, shared a statement he had allegedly received from someone he described as an “individual familiar” with the matter on what actually kicked off the raid.

“CIA Director John Ratcliffe provided (FBI Director) Kash Patel access to U.S. intelligence that served as the basis for the warrant to raid Bolton’s house,” Posobiec said, reading the statement he had allegedly received.

“Bolton disingenuously attacking Trump for mishandling classified information will go down as one of the most audacious and ironic acts of malice in political history. Bolton shouldn’t have been throwing stones in his (now-raided) glass house.”

Labeled as an “exclusive,” Posobiec's claims remain unverified by most other news outlets, with the exception of Newsmax, which on Friday also reported that Ratcliffe provided the intelligence to Patel, kicking off the raid. Posobiec has drawn scrutiny in the past, however, for his promotion of debunked conspiracy theories such as “Pizzagate:” the theory that high-ranking Democrats were involved in a child sex-trafficking ring operating, in part, out of a pizza restaurant in Washington, D.C.

Reporting also suggests that Patel may have tipped off The New York Post to the FBI raid on Bolton’s home, with the details of the criminal probe not yet fully known.

President Donald Trump has denied having advanced knowledge of the raid, but said he expected to be briefed on the matter later on Friday.
