BigXthaPlug was arrested on the same day as his album release.
The 27-year-old rising rap superstar – whose legal name is Xavier Landum – released his third studio album "I Hope You're Happy" on Friday, Aug. 22, and was booked at 2:20 a.m. Friday morning in Dallas County, Texas, according to court records.
The "Largest" hitmaker was charged with possession of less than two ounces of marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm, both misdemeanors. His new album features collaborations with country superstars Ella Langley, Jelly Roll, Luke Combs, Tucker Wetmore, Shaboozey, Thomas Rhett, Bailey Zimmerman and Darius Rucker.
According to a Dallas Police spokesperson, "officers observed a vehicle without a front license plate traveling" in Dallas. After a traffic stop, they identified the driver as Landum and "located a firearm and marijuana in the vehicle."
On the night of Thursday, Aug. 21, he was set to appear at an album release party at the ritzy nightclub Cash Cow in Dallas, according to his Instagram.

BigX also partnered with Jelly Roll – who posted "'BOX ME UP' with my guy @bigxthaplug is OUT NOW BUBBBAAAAAA" – on Aug. 22 to release the music video for their new song.
Last month, BigXthaPlug told USA TODAY about his breakthrough year after Beyoncé used his song "The Largest" as an interlude on her "Cowboy Carter" tour.
"It not only signifies what I'm doing, but it shows that I'm not the only one that is willing to do it," he told USA TODAY. "It makes me feel good that there's somebody out there that's trying to push what I'm pushing."
