Police have charged an Elliot Lake man with impaired driving after being alerted to his erratic driving by a member of the public.

Manitoulin OPP said officers fielded a complaint around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday regarding a possible impaired driver on Highway 17 in Baldwin Township, near Espanola.

“Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop,” the OPP said. “A roadside breath test was completed using an approved screening device with the driver, and as a result the driver was arrested for impaired operation.

John Greer, 61, from Elliot Lake, was charged with impaired driving over 80 mgs.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Sept. 22.
