A 57-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of nighttime break-ins and thefts that took place in Westmount and surrounding neighbourhoods between April and Aug. 2025.

Break-ins while residents were home

According to the Montreal police (SPVM), the suspect is believed to be linked to around 20 incidents involving break and enters and thefts, most of which occurred inside private homes. In many cases, the residents were inside at the time.

Police say the suspect allegedly entered the targeted homes by forcing open windows or doors that weren’t already unlocked or open. Once inside, he reportedly stole accessories, bank cards and cash before fleeing.
