A 15-year-old British tourist is reportedly in a critical condition after being found unconscious in a swimming pool in northern Portugal. The incident occurred in the private pool located in the village of Aborim, within the municipality of Barcelos. Emergency services, including firefighters, were called to the scene and the teenager was swiftly transported to Braga Hospital.
Local reports indicate that the incident took place today, although the exact time and details regarding the teenager's companions remain unclear. This incident follows a series of tragic events involving British nationals in Portugal. Last month, two British men, King Edonmi, 29, and Mo Lisau, 27, were discovered dead in a hotel pool in Albufeira. Portuguese police suggested that the pool's design, combined with the men's inability to swim, likely contributed to their deaths.
Additionally, in early August, a British family tragically lost their lives in a car crash shortly after arriving in Portugal. Domingos Serrano, 55, his wife Maria, 51, and their 20-year-old twin sons, Afonso and Domingos, were killed in a collision on the IP2 main road. Their Polish-born girlfriend, Veronica, and a 26-year-old mine worker, Ruben Goncalves, who was driving the other vehicle involved, also perished in the accident. The family had just rented a car at Faro Airport and were en route to Mourao, the birthplace of the boys' parents.
