WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) released additional details on its investigation into a student athlete found unconscious in rural Ford County. The KBI said there is no evidence that a crime occurred in the case of Delia Montes.
Montes, who was 18 years old at the time and is now 19, was found in a field after a Dodge City Community College cross-country practice on August 7. It was around 5:35 p.m., about four hours after practice started. She was taken to a local hospital and flown to a Wichita hospital to be treated for heat-related injuries.
Storm Team 12 said the temperature that day was 101 degrees, with a heat index of 104.
