MAGNA — On Thursday night, a pedestrian attempting to cross the road in Magna was struck by a vehicle and killed, according to the Unified Police Department.

Sgt. Aymee Race with UPD said the crash occurred at approximately 10:58 p.m.

The pedestrian, a 70-year-old man, had been attempting to cross without a crosswalk when he was struck by a car going North.

Police and medical personnel attempted to treat the man’s injuries, but he died on the scene, Race said.

The driver of the car stayed at the scene and was cooperative. Following the crash, both north and southbound lanes were closed for several hours.

The victim’s identity was not released.

The crash was still under investigation Friday morning.
