WEST VALLEY CITY – A man was arrested after police said he assaulted multiple family members, then barricaded himself in a West Valley City residence Thursday night.

Hector Martinez, 31, was arrested by police Thursday for the offenses of aggravated assault and domestic violence, domestic violence in the presence of a minor, domestic violence assault, domestic violence threats and intoxication.

At approximately 11:13 p.m., the West Valley City Police Department said a family member of Hector Martinez called police to report he was intoxicated and threw a knife at his mother at a residence near Willow Hollow Road.

Hector Martinez then reportedly assaulted his father, “causing a substantial injury to the father’s face,” the West Valley Police Department said.
