The retired library tech has conquered breast and thyroid cancer, and is now being tested for kidney cancer.

Lafreniere has Cowden’s Syndrome, which makes her particularly susceptible to the disease, and a candidate for regular screening. Both her cancers had no symptoms and were caught through early detection.
