Workers at Libbey Glass operations in Toledo will go on strike at 11:50 p.m. Friday, union leaders announced.
According to a release from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, about 84 members will be striking “to protest the company’s unfair labor practices after company leadership failed to bargain in good faith and propose a fair contract offer to its employees.”
On Aug. 9, IAM Local 1297 members at Libbey Glass overwhelmingly rejected the company’s latest contract offer. The union cited inadequate pay, mandatory overtime provisions, stripping the union and members of rights and protections, and rising health insurance costs as its primary grievances.
