Actress Loni Anderson’s cause of death has been confirmed as a rare and aggressive form of uterine cancer, nearly three weeks after she died at the age of 79 .

According to a death certificate obtained by TMZ on Friday, the “ WKRP in Cincinnati ” star died of metastatic uterine leiomyosarcoma , which the National Organization for Rare Disorders classifies as a subtype of uterine cancer that often spreads to other areas of the body, especially the lungs and liver, “causing life-threatening complications.”

The extremely rare condition accounts for just 1-2% of all malignant tumors of the uterus, and occurs in an estimated six out of every 1 million women in the U.S. each year.
