BATTLE CREEK, MI — A motorcyclist died in a single-vehicle crash, the Battle Creek Police Department reports.

The 64-year-old Emmett Township man died Thursday, Aug. 21, night after a crash at 9:37 p.m. that day. Battle Creek police and LifeCare Ambulance responded to the the incident on the 22000 block of M-37 in Bedford Township.

Officers found the motorcycle on fire. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries suffered in the crash.

No other vehicles or people were involved. A preliminary investigation indicates speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors, police said.

The Bedford Township Fire Department responded and helped extinguish the flames.

The crash remains under investigation.
