At the Coweta County Fair, it’s not the midway or carnival lights that set this event apart.

While funnel cakes and corn dogs might be the fare most people expect from a fairground, the real flavor of Coweta is found inside the exhibit hall, where tables overflow with pies, cookies, cakes, breads and candies all crafted by local hands.

“It’s more than just a contest,” said Olivia Handley, family and consumer sciences agent with the Coweta County Cooperative Extension. “It’s an exhibit. It’s where people get to come in and show what they’ve created, whether it’s food or art. And it gives the whole community a chance to enjoy it too.”
