A Hayne Stretch Road man is currently residing in the Sampson County Detention Center, placed there earlier this week after county investigators probing a copper wire theft discovered remnants of the material on his property.
Joshua Odum, 37, of 3181 Hayne Stretch Road, Roseboro was taken into custody on Aug. 20, and charged with one count felony larceny, possession stolen goods, injuring utility wires and injuring property (non-ferrous metals with a value greater than $10,000).
His bond was set at $100,000.
The arrest comes on the heels of Sampson County Sheriff’s officers investigating a report from Star Communications employees that a significant portion of communication cable along Hayne Stretch Road had been dug up and removed.
