HUBBARD, Ohio - Officials in the City of Hubbard are considering putting in place some stricter laws on electric bikes and scooters.
As kids take them out on the street some say they’ve noticed reckless behavior.
Ohio Revised Code allows some e-scooters and e-bikes to be ridden in the street. The ORC also requires those scooters to act like cars by obeying all traffic laws and riders under 18 to wear a helmet. The city is considering something that would go beyond that.
“If they’re used in accordance with the way they're designed they're perfectly safe,” Jim Phibbs, the Owner of Discount Powersports said.
