WARREN Trumbull County Prosecutor Dennis Watkins is challenging a federal public defender's involvement in the case of convicted murderer Danny Lee Hill.
Watkins penned a letter to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost asking him to investigate whether "the self-insertion as 'counsel of record' by the Federal Public Defender's Office under the guise of federal court mandate constitutes an abuse of the principles of federalism."
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the Ohio Revised Code provides the AG's Office the authority to monitor federal actions for potential overreach and ensure adherence to the U.S. Constitution's principles of federalism.
