A dispute between two Mobile County residents led to a deadly shooting Friday morning at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Mississippi.
The shooting occurred at about 7:30 a.m. resulting in the death of one person and the arrest of a man, officials said at a press conference held by the Pascagoula Police Department and an Ingalls representative.
Police identified the alleged shooter as Curtis James Jr. 25, of Mobile. But the Pascagoula police chief said James had not been charged with any crimes. He was taken into custody at about 9 a.m.
Chief Terry Scott said the shooting was an isolated incident stemming from a “disagreement” between James and a co-worker.
Scott said he was not sure how James got a gun into the shipyard, and police were still working to retrieve the weapon from the site.
