A Brighton city councilman accused of providing video of a double murder to news media during an investigation was found not guilty of one charge while another was dismissed.

On Wednesday, Jerome Edward McMullin Jr., 54, was found not guilty of obstructing governmental operations or hindering the administration of law.

McMullin‘s additional charge for tampering was also dismissed at the request by the Jefferson County District Attorney for the Bessemer Division.

McMullin was arrested on June 2 after Brighton Police Chief Larry Woods accused the councilman of endangering an ongoing investigation into a double homicide.
