SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) - For more than a decade, a woman from Porter Corners has been the artist behind the jockey statues at the Saratoga Race Course. Every year on Travers Day, Robin Schumacher repaints the jockey silks on the Travers statue, located near the Marylou Whitney entrance, to reflect the winner of the big race.
Known as the "Saratoga Jockey Painter," Schumacher is now sharing her craft with others. This summer, she started hosting "Paint Your Own Jockey" classes.
So far, Schumacher has hosted two classes and has another one planned for September 6. She also plans to host more classes in November and December. If you're interested, you can contact her at saratogajockeypainter@gmail.com.
