A murder case in Maine where a teenage boy is accused of killing a woman who disappeared while paddleboarding is no longer public, according to officials.
Deven Young, 17, was arrested July 16 and charged with murder in the death of Sunshine “Sunny” Stewart, 48, of St. George, Maine, whose body was found on Crawford Pond in Union, Maine, on July 3. He made a brief initial court appearance two days later where he entered a denial to the charge and was ordered held without bail.
Young, of Frankfort, Maine, was scheduled to appear in court for a status conference Friday, but whether that will take place and where the case goes from there is unclear.
A spokesperson for Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey’s office said they were unable to disclose any information about the case Thursday.
