Lawrence City Councilor Fidelina Santiago pleaded guilty to multiple voter fraud charges on Wednesday stemming from the city’s 2023 elections, officials said.

Santiago, 41, was elected to the City Council’s District A seat that November but was later indicted on 16 charges of fraudulent voting .

She pleaded guilty Wednesday in Essex Superior Court to 12 of those charges, including four counts of voting unlawfully, four counts of interfering with a voter, and four counts of obstructing voting, Essex District Attorney Paul F. Tucker’s office said.

Santiago was also indicted on four counts of conspiracy to vote or attempt to vote illegally, but prosecutors opted not to pursue those charges, Tucker’s office said.
