CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -The Clifton Park & Halfmoon Emergency Corps runs seven ambulances during the daytime. But the agency and others throughout Saratoga County are down anywhere from six to twelve EMTs.
“There is some burnout that happens over the course of time. There’s a lot of stress that folks are exposed to but I think that the profession and the camaraderie that people have helps to support each other,” explained Mike McEvoy, the Saratoga County EMS Coordinator.
McEvoy told NEWS10's Anthony Krolikowski that people who become EMTs are genuine; wanting to help others on their worst days. Those who continue on with the profession tend to go into medical school after five years.
