MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - While cleaning out old technology, a local nonprofit is providing resources to low-income families.

DANEnet worked with Cascade Asset Management to gather old technology in their back-to-school recycling event on Friday.

Hundreds of people attended the event at Warner Park and dropped off items, including laptops and cell phones.

Organizers said if the piece of technology worked, it would be wiped down and refurbished to help with tech support and support skills instruction through the nonprofit.

If it could not be refurbished, organizers said the technology would be wiped down and recycled.

“It’s good to clean out things, but for us, we can repurpose and refurbish items to get them back into the community,” said Cascade Asset Management President Neil Peters-Mi
