CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Top Iowa Democrats want the state to be the first in the nation for 2028’s presidential caucuses.

Iowa state law states the first caucuses in the country must be held in the state, but last year that wasn’t the case.

“We should follow Iowa law no matter what that says, I also don’t really care what the DNC thinks or says,” State Auditor and Governor candidate Rob Sand told reporters Thursday.

The Iowa Democratic party put out a six-question survey this week to see if Iowans want a 2028 caucus.

But it’s clear the Presidential Primary Calendar has created a rift with the national party.
