ATLANTA — After fellow officers and community members gathered for a heartfelt service honoring the life and legacy of a metro Atlanta police officer killed in the line of duty, his family shared words remembering him as a hero.
11Alive's Marissa Sarbak spoke with Officer David Rose's family, including his 6-year-old daughter, Alayna Atkinson-Garcia.
"I love him so much. He’s a hero," Alayna said, holding the flag given to her during her father's memorial service tightly to her chest.
Rose was shot and killed after being the first to respond to the scene when a gunman opened fire in an attack on the Centers for Disease Control two weeks ago.
