ASHEVILLE - A popular section of the Blue Ridge Parkway opened Aug. 22, connecting visitors with 38 miles of continuous park access from the Folk Art Center in East Asheville to south of Graveyard Fields near Black Balsam Knob.

The National Park Service announced completion of a landslide repair project at Milepost 401.5, near Ferrin Knob Tunnel No. 3, on the parkway. This project's completion restores access from Milepost 393, near U.S. 191/Brevard Road in Asheville, to Milepost 420, 2 miles south of the Graveyard Fields area.

Thirty-eight miles of continuous access is now available from MP 382, near U.S. 70 and the Folk Art Center in East Asheville, to MP 420. This corridor also includes locations such as the Mount Pisgah Inn, campground, picnic area, and many popular hiking trails.
