DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) -- Tonight's Hometown Heroes took an oath to provide a voice for children in the foster system.

They are the newest volunteers for Dauphin County CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, who represent children in foster care who have experienced significant trauma because of abuse and neglect.

"I believe most kids in the system need that one person that can take them, sit down and really listen to what they are saying, so that it can be articulated in a better way to the courts," said Lavince Pate, a CASA volunteer.

CASA volunteers are essentially trained as the eyes and ears of the court to advocate in the best interest of the child or sibling group in court.
