LAUREL, Md. (DC News Now) -- Kids in Prince George’s County had fun hanging out with Laurel police officers this week.
The Laurel Police Department welcomed dozens of children to their annual “Cops Camp" where kids, aged six to 13, got to see what officers do on a day-to-day while having fun,
From Monday until Friday, kids participated in activities such as: Relay races, swimming and arts and crafts, to name a few activities.
Laurel Police Department officer Miranda Rice said the weeklong camp is a good way for children to see cops as people and not be afraid.
“At the end of the day, our job is very demanding, but this shows the human aspect of it," she said. "We like to have fun as well, and along with the community, we like to incorporate the community as well and show them we can ha
