FORT WASHINGTON, Md. (DC News Now) -- Parents in Prince George’s County said they are feeling frustrated and blindsided after learning that Excel Academy Public Charter School will not reopen just days before the start of the new school year.

The school’s sudden closure has left families with less than a week to find new placements for their children. Many parents said they are scrambling.

"I'm very angry," said Shakira Morales, parent to two students.

Parents were notified about the closure on Friday morning, and hours later gathered outside the school, sharing their frustration about the last-minute news.
