LAFAYETTE, La. (KPLC) - The opening of a Buc-ee’s store and gas station in Lafayette has been pushed back two years.

The 74,000-square-foot store announced in late 2024 was originally expected to open in 2026, but the Buc-ee’s website now lists it with an opening date of 2028.

The construction site off I-10 near Louisiana Avenue must be regraded, KADN reports. Construction was also recently paused due to heavy rain.

“I am excited that Buc-ee’s is working closely with our economic development team on moving forward. I am supporting the company as they work through construction challenges due to weather and other circumstances. We will all be eating Beaver Nuggets and brisket in due time,” Lafayette Mayor-President Monique Blanco Boulet told KADN.
