OLIVER COUNTY, N.D. (KFYR) - Studies show nature can be one of the best medicines for mental health. In a survey, thousands of North Dakotans voted Cross Ranch State Park north of Bismarck as their number one go-to for nature therapy in the state.
Mission for Michael, a mental health treatment organization, conducted the survey.
Park Manager Terry Mitchell said he agrees with the results.
“It just kind of relaxing, puts your body at ease overall. So I am not really surprised because it is such a tranquil park,” said Mitchell.
Some state residents struggle with anxiety and burnout, and this is exacerbated by a lack of mental health providers in a rural state. Countless studies concretely show the positive impact nature has on mental health.
