BELTON, Texas — A Central Texas non-profit gave hope and comfort to kids devastated by the July floods.

GTC United is founded by a military family in Belton who wanted to make sure the children of Sandy Creek, near Austin, were not forgotten.

"This is something that it's a conviction, a blessing," said GTC United Founder Britnia Weicht. "It's definitely heavy on my heart."

GTC United served 100 children and more than 40 families at a recent distribution day after collecting toys, bicycles and much more for the Sandy Creek community.

"I feel like from the beginning they kind of have been overlooked and to a certain extent forgotten, because you know, Kerrville and Hunt and all those areas have so much more damage," said Weicht.
