JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a motorcycle rider was shot by the driver of a car he was passing.

The bullet went through Sam Steward’s right arm and then cut a groove across his left arm.

“I heard a loud pow, you know, and I felt pressure on both arms,” he said.

The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Aug. 15, on Highway 21, south of De Soto. Steward said he was in the process of passing the car, which was going under the speed limit and that he didn’t do anything to provoke the driver.

“Just to randomly shoot out the window, that’s just nuts,” said Steward.

He was able to maintain control of the motorcycle and stopped at a gas station to get help. Steward said he then drove to the nearby home of a friend, who took
