(INSIDE CALIFORNIA POLITICS) — Former Health and Human Services Secretary and candidate for California governor Xavier Becerra threw his support behind efforts to redraw the Golden State's congressional maps on this week's edition of Inside California Politics. Becerra also vowed to enact a single-payer healthcare system in California if elected in 2026.
Becerra sat down with host Nikki Laurenzo one day after California lawmakers approved the new congressional maps, setting up a high-profile special election in November.
"We have to counter this hostile takeover that the federal government is trying to impose on Congress," Becerra said. "This would change the voting structure of Congress in a way that tilts everything in favor of Donald Trump. That's not fair."
