The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says a man drowned at Jericho Beach Thursday.

Const. Tania Visintin says the incident happened just after 4 p.m.

“VPD officers were called to Jericho Beach to assist with crowd control as lifeguards and paramedics were attempting to revive an unconscious swimmer,” she said.

“Tragically, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Police say the swimmer’s death is not believed to be the result of a crime.
