SPRINGERVILLE, Ariz. — The Springerville town manager has resigned, citing actions from the town council that he says are unethical and illegal.

Tim Rasmussen was the town manager for the town of Springerville, a small town about four and a half hours from Phoenix.

Rasmussen suddenly resigned ahead of Wednesday's town council meeting, saying the council had broken open meeting laws and was ignoring the advice of both himself and the city attorney.

Rasmussen said the issue was a legal fight the city is having with a local lawyer. Rasmussen claimed the council was told not to talk to the lawyer, but council members did anyway, then talked to each other. This, he says, violated state open meeting laws and the town’s ethics policy.
