California has revoked the licenses of two fireworks companies linked to the deadly July 1 Esparto explosion that killed seven workers. The State Fire Marshal announced Friday that Devastating Pyrotechnics Inc. and Blackstar Fireworks, along with their owners Kenneth Chee and Craig Cutright, violated multiple fireworks laws and regulations, including failing to report lost explosives and storing fireworks without permits. The companies’ licenses were suspended earlier in July, and the revocations are now final. The blast occurred on property zoned for agriculture, owned by Yolo County Sheriff’s Lt. Sam Machado, who is on administrative leave. A criminal investigation into the Esparto explosion remains ongoing.
