LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- Three teens were shot Thursday night in Lansing, and as police continue to investigate the incident, advocates in the community are offering their thoughts on the issue of gun violence in the capital city.

Thursday night, in the 3800 block of Wilson Ave., a neighborhood near the Capital Region International Airport, police found three teens aged 16, 17, and 19 with gunshot wounds. All three of them are expected to survive, according to the Lansing Police Department.

Daniel Boggan, a strategy manager with the group Advance Peace Michigan says his organization immediately responded to the shooting. The group has operated in the Lansing area since 2022, when Boggan says there was a large spike in gun-related murders.
