FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Long-time evening WOWO radio host, Ron Gregory, passed away on Aug. 22 at the age of 77.

Now, the station’s current news director is reflecting on his time with him and at the station.

“Ron Gregory had a sharp wit and smooth delivery. He set the example as a professional broadcaster in every sense of the word. His personality, Ron, was just a kind and really joyful person,” said current WOWO News Director Brian Ford.

Ford says his relationship with Gregory began well before he worked at WOWO

“I met Ron back when I was a senior in high school, and he saw the numbers on my varsity letter jacket, and he asked what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I said I want to work at WOWO and play music on the air. He looked at me, and he asked why?” said Ford.
