CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - A ribbon cutting will celebrate the Cape Girardeau Police Department’s new substation.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 629 Good Hope Street on Wednesday, September 3.

In May 2024, the Cape Girardeau City Council passed a bill to open the substation on Good Hope Street.

According to the city manager’s briefing on Friday, August 22, the substation was making progress.

Cape Girardeau City Manager Dr. Kenneth Haskin said in the report that the utilities, security systems and equipment were successfully installed; and the inner doors and glass would be installed soon.

He said the electronics, plumbing and counters were scheduled to be installed the following week.
