JONESORO — It’s usually not good protocol to interrupt a classroom during the school day but Charles R. Drew High School teacher Miranda Scott recently received a pleasant interruption as she was surprised as the 2025-26 Clayton County Public Schools Teacher of the Year.

On the morning of Aug. 15, accompanied by members of the selection committee and school system administrators, Clayton County Superintendent Anthony W. Smith paid a visit to Scott’s classroom and congratulation Scott on being selected as the district's top teacher.

Smith joined Ramielle Moorer, the CCPS 2024-25 Teacher of the Year from Riverdale Middle, in presenting Scott with a bouquet of flowers and balloons.

Scott, a business education teacher at Drew, was selected from a group of six district finalists.
