A man suspected of attacking his mother and killing her and then leading law enforcement on a short chase on his motorcycle Friday died by suicide, the Nevada County Sheriff's Office said.

The sheriff's office said it responded to a report of a disturbance on Glen Meadow Drive in Grass Valley.

Deputies found a woman with major injuries, who was then taken to a hospital in Placer County. She later died from her injuries.

Deputies found the suspected attacker on a motorcycle and then began a short chase that ended at the intersection of Squirrel Creek Road and Adam Avenue. The man then shot himself, the sheriff's office said.

The victim and attacker have not yet been identified. However, the sheriff's office said the victim was the attacker's mother.
