Nearly two months to the day that police shot and killed an 18-year-old in a Homewood park, six people were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct during protests of the death of Jabari Peoples .

A fire set in the Lakeshore Walmart appears to have been intentionally set and linked to the afternoon protests, police said.

Homewood police say around 2 p.m. they received calls of “disorderly persons obstructing traffic on 18th Street South,” according to Sgt. Mark Trippe.

Trippe said three of those arrested were armed with handguns and were charged with possessing a firearm while participating in a demonstration.

“One of the armed individuals was also charged with resisting arrest. Three of the arrested individuals were from Louisiana and the other three were from Alabama,” Trippe sai
