NEW ALBANY, Ind. — A family tradition in southern Indiana is making a big change this year.

On Thursday, in a Facebook post, the Harvest Homecoming Festival organizers announced there will be no rides at the 2025 edition.

They had already announced a number of safety enhancements in light of last year's shooting just outside the festival that killed high school senior Bryce Gerlach. Two others were injured.

If you look at the shared comments from the Festival's page , there is mixed reaction to the announcement.

Lori Greer from Sellersburg attended last year's festival, but left hours before the shooting. She, like many others, was shaken by what happened.
