Dawn Wilkinson recalls the behind-the-scenes discussions that started last year, before many northeast Indiana residents likely had heard of Slate Auto.

The company was considering possibly a dozen locations where it could assemble electric vehicles, said Wilkinson, director of projects and operations for the Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation, also known as KEDCO.

When the scouting talks and site visits ended, Warsaw landed at the top of Slate’s list.

“I think all the stars aligned for us,” Wilkinson said. “We’re just grateful for the diversity of industry that it brings to Kosciusko County.”
