The Whitfield County Sheriff's Office says their deputies shot at two dogs that reportedly charged them while they were serving a felony warrant on Waring Road Friday evening.

The agency called the dogs "aggressive," and said one of them died as a result of its injuries.

"As with any firearm discharge or use of force, we have begun an internal investigation into this shooting and are using all of our resources to identify the facts of what happened this evening."

Facebook commenters had mixed reactions to WCSO's statement.

"Well all I can say is it would have been 2 shot cause you shoot my dog you better shoot me too," one user wrote.

Another commenter defended the deputies, saying "[i]t’s so VERYYYYYYYY sad that people are so worried about a dog that has no soul."
