NAGS HEAD, N.C. (WAVY) — Hurricane Erin is long gone, but she left a lot behind, like a house condemned by the building inspector — a future unknown. If it’s only repairing the stairs, no problem, but if it’s the septic system, then there could be issues.

Dean Lasego, a property owner, saw the pounding, unrelenting surf Thursday night.

“At high tide, we had 10 to 15-foot waves at 10-second intervals," Lasego said. "Within two hours, it chopped all the rest of this dune along here.”
